Dependency Service or Group Failed to Start – Error Msg: 1073741288
I’m getting the 10737441288 error message when I try to restart the Network Location Awareness service on a local laptop running Vista as the OS. This affects both cable and WiFi Internet access. I have tried the following with no success: - Ran sfc /scannow. No issues were reported. - Checked the CBS.log and searched for “cannot repair ..” I didnt find any files that needed to be repaired. - Ran netsh winsock reset. These three were the most common fixes that I have seen on various message boards. Do anyone have some other suggestions that might fix this problem? Thanks.

Hi, Please make sure the Dependency services are on as follows: TCP/IP Protocol Driver service Network Store Interface Service Remote Procedure Call (RPC) To troubleshoot this issue, please create a new user account to eliminate the non-root cause. Based on the case log, an in-place upgrade will repair this issue since it could be caused by corrupt system file.
